How I use AI in this program
I have strong feelings about people publishing AI-generated writing and I think that readers deserve to know when the words they are reading were generated by AI. So I want to be completely transparent about how I use AI throughout this program.
The information I send you throughout this program (our correspondence, the explanations I send you, and the thinking behind your protocol) is hand-written by me. I do use AI as a tool to help me analyse your data and in developing certain sections of your personalised protocol (and obviously in app development!), but even this process is highly iterative and usually takes me many hours. (There is no point at which I press a single button or write a single prompt and just copy that output to you. The words that you read have many hours of my care and attention behind them.)
Your graduation story is a little different: I do use AI to help write it. This is a concession I’ve chosen to make because I think every person who comes through this process deserves to receive something deeply precious and personal at the end of it. I want you to be able to look back at our journey and see the themes and lessons and growth that occurred that may have been difficult to recognise while you were living it. Writing each of these stories from scratch myself would make it immensely difficult for me to keep giving that degree of attention to every person that comes through this program.
I have also intentionally chosen to use AI for this process because it can stand distant from my perspective as a witness of your journey and your own perspective as the traveller. I’ve trained it to write from the position of a wise and kind philosophical storyteller who has been given the privilege of witnessing your growth over these weeks, purely as an observer. I give it your private reflections alongside my own interpretation of what I have witnessed and task it with looking across everything you have shared to see the evolution of your journey.
And then I iterate – a lot! I read every word it produces, question it, challenge anything that feels false, return to your reflections, change the emphasis, and keep going until the story that emerges feels true to the person I come to know and admire throughout this program.
So yes, AI helps generate the words in your final story (and very little elsewhere). But the experiences and reflections within it are yours, and my attention and care in shaping them into your story is very much mine.
